What does community mean to you?
Sharing meals together? Learning together? Gathering in sacred space? Singing around a campfire at night? A "village" to raise the children and share the joys and challenges of living? A group of people who maybe you've just met, but whose similar stories and spirit make them seem like lifelong friends? An extended family to join in the celebrations and sorrows life brings? A safe place to be who you really are? How do we support the events? Since 1995, Our Lady of the Earth and Sky has provided a space for monthly services, festivals, and classes. The volunteers who give their time to organize OLOTEAS events love being of service to the community. We are proud to be a community that is available to anyone, regardless of their financial status, and we also need to meet our expenses. It takes money to continue our events. Your financial contributions support the events and all the learning, play, and growth they provide, and allow us to continue to be a sustainable community that is accessible to all. Please also explore volunteering with us! What is "Feast Gear"? As part of sustainability, we also encourage everyone to bring their own "feast gear" if they can. The term is borrowed from the reusable dining kits used by members of the Society for Creative Anachronism during their camp-outs, and typically includes a dish and/or bowl, eating utensils, and some sort of drinkware. It doesn't have to be fancy, just something that is re-usable, so we can save time on kitchen cleanup at the end of the night, and save money and resources on purchasing compostable plates and flatware for everyone each month. Thank you! (We will, of course, have compostables available for those who don't bring feast gear. But we no longer use the Longhouse dishes and flatware, in the interest of time and preserving the dishwasher that is on-site.) |
