12:15–1:15 pm: Young Adult & Occult Discussion Group: Pagan Spiritual Community
Young Adult & Occult is a space for Pagans in their late teens and early twenties (roughly 15-25) to build community and learn together that is held monthly at OLOTEAS events (and sometimes offsite). At this month's Young Adult & Occult: We will discuss Pagan spiritual community and the different ways that we can conceptualize it.

12:15–1:15 pm: Lawn Games – Bring them if you have them!
Have a frisbee laying around? A couple of badminton racquets and a birdie? Bring any lawn games you have for a couple quick games!

1:15–2:00 pm Workshop: Seasonal Cycles and Pagan Practice (with Stephanie)
What season is it now? Is it summer, or autumn? How do we track seasonal changes and other cycles of time, and how do those cycles influence our spiritual practice? Join us for a low-key guided discussion about yearly cycles.

1:15–2:00 pm Growing Up Pagan: Kids' Activity: Using Magic in a School Setting (with the Magickal Miscreants)
This is a series of classes about what it means to grow up Pagan – taught by Pagan kids, for Pagan kids. We are all young adults who grew up in Pagan families, and these classes draw on our personal experiences of what we wish we had known growing up and the kids’ own questions about what it means to be Pagan. At this month's Growing Up Pagan: We will learn about using magic in a school setting, including how to use magic to focus, self-regulate, and do well in school. Coloring supplies and story time will be provided as an alternative activity for pre-k kids!

2:00–2:30 pm Picnic Break

2:30–3:30 pm Pre-Ritual Discussion, followed by Ritual: Volunteer Ritual of Gratitude and Healing (with Kimberly)
Join us for a short ritual to appreciate the good and ask for a bit of healing for something in your life.  Volunteer to call a quarter or lead some other part of the circle, or just lend your energy to the Working.  Hope to see you there!

MASKING AND VACCINATION GUIDELINES
As a community, we care for each other, and there are people in our community who have risk factors for complications from covid infection or who are under age 5 and have not yet completed their vaccine series. Currently circulating variants are more transmissible than previous variants.
Therefore:
  • If you aren’t feeling well, please stay home and participate online (see below for information).
  • We continue to ask that anyone over age 5 who attends OLOTEAS events in person be vaccinated against covid.
If you choose not to have a covid vaccine, we ask you to participate online only.

What to Bring:
Blankets for the lawn and camping chairs if you'd like seating. Picnic snacks or lunch for yourself, plenty to drink (water etc. – no alcohol allowed on site), and your own feast gear (plate, cup, utensils -- we will have some small compostable plates). Dress for the weather with extra layers and/or sunscreen as necessary. Feel free to bring and play lawn games. Pets must be leashed and kept away from picnic and potluck items. Leashed dogs allowed except in park public swimming areas.

We’ve missed seeing you! We are very excited that, in addition to evening online ritual, we have returned to in-person events at the Longhouse!

As a community, we care for each other, and there are people in our community and among the Longhouse residents who have risk factors for complications from covid infection or who are still not eligible for vaccines.
Therefore:
  • We continue to ask that anyone over age 5 who attends OLOTEAS events in person be vaccinated against covid. If you choose not to have a covid vaccine, we ask you to participate online.
  • While on the Longhouse grounds, we ask that you remain masked in all indoor spaces except the pool room and Shrine. Masking outdoors is optional EXCEPT in ritual if participants will be close to each other.
  • There will be no potluck meals at our April—June events, and we ask that no one eat indoors at these events. We’ll have a covered coffee bar set up outdoors, and you are welcome to bring your own food to eat outdoors or in your vehicle.

  • The POOL IS CLOSED AT THE JUNE 2022 EVENT -- This is so the Longhouse can renovate the pool room! :)

June 25 Daytime In-Person Events and Ritual at the Longhouse:

12:30 Opening Circle (with Laura)

1:00 Newcomers' Orientation (with Laura)

New to Pagan events or to OLOTEAS? Come to the newcomers' discussion! We'll give you the basics of what you should know, answer any questions you have, and go over more info about what to expect from our rituals and events.

1:15–2:15 pm: Young Adult & Occult Discussion Group: Topic: Magical Decision-Making and Building Ethical Frameworks
Young Adult & Occult is a space for Pagans in their late teens and early twenties (roughly 15-25) to build community and learn together that is held monthly at OLOTEAS events (and sometimes offsite). At this month's Young Adult & Occult: We will have a group discussion about magical decision-making and building ethical frameworks.

2:30–3:30 pm: Growing Up Pagan Kids' Class/Activity: Altars and Making Our Own Paper Altar (with the Magickal Miscreants)
At this month's Growing Up Pagan: We will learn about altars and make our own altars out of paper.

2:30–3:30 pm: Community Discussion: How Do We Conceptualize Our Community? (with Stephanie)
OLOTEAS events are meant to be safe spaces, and we all come from different backgrounds and experiences. OLOTEAS participants attend of their own free will and have personal responsibilities for our actions. As a Community, we care for each other. How does this all look in real life? How do we view our roles and responsibilities in our shared community, and how can we make it stronger?

3:45 pm: Pre-Ritual Discussion, followed by Ritual: A Ritual for the Community, to Work Energy Toward Our Will (with Stephanie)
We will raise energy together towards the wishes you have for the world, the community, and yourselves at this time. All energy raised will be for the good of all and harming none. If you have a request for the ritual, you can submit it on this public Google doc (instructions in document), or send a message to oloteas (at) oloteas.org, or send a message to the OLOTEAS Pastor account on Facebook.

5:30 Closing Circle (with Kimberly)

A Note About the OLOTEAS Parents, Etc. Facebook group:
For the parents in our community, if you are not already a member, you may be interested in joining the OLOTEAS Parents, Etc. group, where we will be sharing resources for education and entertainment for the kiddos who are stuck at home. This group is ONLY for family members of children in the OLOTEAS community, and is a private group. To join, please send a friend request to the OLOTEAS Pastor FB account (not the FB group), and also send a DM requesting membership. You will then receive an invitation to join the group.
Also see the GROWING UP PAGAN lesson plans and activity outlines available on our website now.

Healing Temple
Our virtual Healing Temple webpage is always open with resources for self-care and finding support.

What to Bring to the Longhouse:
You may want to bring snacks for yourself to eat outside or in your vehicle. There will be no potluck and no indoor eating. No alcohol or other intoxicants are allowed at OLOTEAS events. You might want to bring a towel for pool/hot tub use (note: the pool area is clothing-optional). Shoes cannot be worn inside, so please wear a pair that can be slipped easily on and off. We strive to do the main ritual outside, regardless of weather, so please bring layered clothing for colder/wetter weather if desired. Feel free to bring and play your drums or other instruments. Also, please note that, due to allergy and wildlife concerns, no pets are allowed on site (except service animals).

Registration:
Please check in at the front door when you arrive on-site. We are sustained, and do our part to sustain our community and the wider world, through a multidirectional flow of resource contributions. These contributions include but are not limited to money, skill, talent, and material goods. We ask all those who are able to make a money donation when they come to events (usually $10 for ages 13 and up, and we're not requesting donations for ages 12 and under). This is a request, no one ever has or ever will be turned away from a regular OLOTEAS event for lack of funds, but we do sincerely ask for it if you are able.

A Note About Children:
This site features a swimming pool, hot tub, and many natural outside features that pose potential risks for unattended children; therefore, children younger than the age of 13 MUST be under adult supervision at ALL times during this event. With respect to the pool, an individual adult may be responsible FOR NO MORE THAN 3 CHILDREN (those under 13). Most events offer a kids' class or activity for younger kids and a Young Adult & Occult discussion group (ages 15-25). There are also some games and craft supplies available.

A Note About Parking and Carpooling:
Parking availability at the Longhouse is limited – please carpool if at all possible. Park near the outdoor "Registration" booth or along the stretch of the driveway near the outdoor kitchen and stage areas. Please park close to the adjacent vehicle, but be considerate of vehicles displaying disability license plates or signs. Once at the site, due to limited space, we advise that folks leave most personal belongings in their vehicles. There is no public transit option for the Longhouse, so if you are able to offer a ride or are looking for one, please feel free to post ride availability or requests to the OLOTEAS community email list or our Facebook group page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/oloteas/).

Directions to the Longhouse:
Take 520 eastbound to the Redmond Way/Fall City (WA 202) Exit. Turn right at the light at the end of the off ramp. Go approximately 5 miles on Redmond-Fall City Road. Driveway is on the right, 23301 (directly across from SmartStop Self Storage). If you pass Albertson's, you have gone about 100 yards too far. When you first pull into the drive you should immediately see a large wooden sign that says The Longhouse; if you don’t you are in the neighbors’ drive.
NOTE for your drive home:
The westbound onramp to SR 520 from 202/Redmond Way will be closed and detoured for light rail construction April–August.

May 28 Daytime In-Person Events and Ritual at the Longhouse:

12:30 Opening Circle (with Laura)

1:00 Newcomers' Orientation (with Laura)

New to Pagan events or to OLOTEAS? Come to the newcomers' discussion! We'll give you the basics of what you should know, answer any questions you have, and go over more info about what to expect from our rituals and events.

1:15–2:15 pm: Young Adult & Occult Discussion Group: Working with Ancestors in Day-to-Day Practice
Young Adult & Occult is a space for Pagans in their late teens and early twenties (roughly 15-25) to build community and learn together that is held monthly at OLOTEAS events (and sometimes offsite). At this month's Young Adult & Occult: We will have a group discussion about the ways we work with our ancestors in our day-to-day practice.

2:30–3:30 pm: Growing Up Pagan Kids' Class/Activity: Hands-on Investigation of Plants and Their Energies (with the Magickal Miscreants)
At this month's Growing Up Pagan, we will go to the community garden for a hands-on investigation of plants and their energies.

2:30–3:30 pm: Workshop: Sky Scrying and Weather Witchery (with Robert)
Predicting weather by the clouds. Introduction to cloud identification and mid-latitude weather prediction.

3:45 pm: Pre-Ritual Discussion, followed by Ritual: Liminal in Light and Shadow (with Jane)
When we think of liminal time or liminal place, we often think of some shadowy, timey-wimey, in-between scary space. But it can also be a time of joyful anticipation. The time between when a plant sprouts and a fruit forms; the time between picking a fruit and being able to eat a pie.

5:30 Closing Circle (with Stephanie)

May 28 Evening Online Events and Ritual on Zoom:

7:45–7:55 pm Zoom meeting opens & greetings
Zoom link:
[See website for link: http://www.oloteas.org/next-event.html]

8:00 pm Pre-ritual discussion with Zoom ritual to follow: A Ritual for the Community, to Work Energy Toward Our Will
(with Kimberly)

We will raise energy together towards the wishes you have for the world, the community, and yourselves at this time. All energy raised will be for the good of all and harming none. If you have a request for the ritual, you can submit it on this public Google doc (instructions in document), or we will also go around for additions during the ritual.
For those who would like to, please have:
- A small vessel of water.
- A blue candle (flame or LED) or a candle of another color that you relate to manifestation or positive outcomes.
- An oil, perfume, spice, or object with a pleasant scent that you associate with focus or Will to help support our wishes.
- Something to eat and drink for grounding during/after the ritual.

After Ritual: Coffee Klatch facilitated conversation: Topic: The Importance of Names (with Kimberly)
For the last couple years people not in Young Adult & Occult have seen the YA&O discussion topics go by and wanted to participate... Join us as we resurrect the Coffee Klatch as facilitated conversations around Pagan topics. This month's topic: The Importance of Names

9:10–9:15 pm: goodbyes & Zoom meeting closes

Notes About Returning to In-Person Events at the Longhouse:
Back for Beltaine!
We’ve missed seeing you for all this time! We are very excited that, in addition to evening online ritual, we are returning to in-person events at the Longhouse as of our April Beltaine Faire event!

  • Our schedule will be different than it was before. Site opens at noon and closes at 6pm; see event listings each month for the full schedule. Online Zoom services begin at 7:45pm and close at 9:15pm.
  • The pool will be open, and most of the pool room doors will be kept open at all times for circulation, regardless of outdoor temperature or weather.
  • The Pan/Aphrodite Shrine, when open, will be available for one party at a time only. If the door is closed, assume the space is in use. When leaving the Shrine, please leave the door open for air circulation.
  • Stewardship events will not occur prior to our events on event days, but may be happening in the evening! Stay tuned for further information on this. Participants who are over age 18 and able to do so are encouraged to join in site stewardship activities on OLOTEAS event days and other scheduled days to help maintain the site for everyone.

Saturday April 23 Evening Online Events:
OLOTEAS Services will also continue online, 7:45pm – 9:15pm PST, with an online ritual and facilitated Coffee Klatch discussion on Pagan topics.

Questions or concerns? Please send email to [email protected].

April 23 Daytime In-Person Events and Ritual at the Longhouse:

1:00 Newcomers' Orientation (with Laura)
New to Pagan events or to OLOTEAS? Come to the newcomers' discussion! We'll give you the basics of what you should know, answer any questions you have, and go over more info about what to expect from our rituals and events.

1:15–2:15 pm: Young Adult & Occult Discussion Group: Relationship to Deities
Young Adult & Occult is a space for Pagans in their late teens and early twenties (roughly 15-25) to build community and learn together that is held monthly at OLOTEAS events (and sometimes offsite). At this month's Young Adult & Occult: We will have a group discussion about the many different ways that Pagans can think about their deities and their relationship to deities.

2:30–3:30 pm: Growing Up Pagan Kids' Activity: Egg Hunt! (with the Magickal Miscreants)
Join us for our annual spring egg hunt! Eggs will include candies, as well as non-edible items for children with dietary restrictions. Bags will be provided for egg collecting, but we encourage families to bring their own baskets if they would like to use them.

2:30–3:30 pm: Workshop: Animism in Theory and Practice (with Stephanie)
An interactive discussion-based workshop exploring how animism relates to modern Paganism and the wider world.

3:45 pm: Pre-Ritual Discussion, followed by Ritual: Beltaine in the Times of Burning (with Robert)
The earth quakes and the heavens rattle; the beasts of nature flock together and the nations of men flock apart; volcanoes usher up heat while elsewhere water becomes ice and melts; and then on other days it just rains. Yet even in these unsettled times, there is time for joy, and mirth. The world awakens to a new spring, the darkest night is just before Beltaine.

5:30 Closing Circle (with Jayson)

April 23 Evening Online Events and Ritual on Zoom:

7:45–7:55 pm Zoom meeting opens & greetings
Zoom link:
[See website for link]

8:00 pm Pre-ritual discussion with Zoom ritual to follow: Build the House (with Kimberly)
As we move from online rituals being a place of refuge to online rituals being an ongoing gathering by choice, let's create a conceptual gathering place. We will share in guided visualization to create and hold the space, and then set our intentions and hopes for the online portion of our OLOTEAS community.
For those who would like to, please have:
- A yellow candle or candle of another color that you relate to Air or online spaces.
- An oil, perfume, spice, or object with a pleasant scent that you associate with home, protection, or growth to help support our space.
- Something to eat and drink for grounding during/after the ritual.
Dress for Beltaine if you'd like to! :)

After Ritual: Coffee Klatch facilitated conversation: Topic: Egregores (with Kimberly)
For the last couple years people not in Young Adult & Occult have seen the YA&O discussion topics go by and wanted to participate... Join us as we resurrect the Coffee Klatch as facilitated conversations around Pagan topics. This month we are discussing egregores, entities created by belief.

In honor of Brigid, Goddess of Poetry, Healing, and the Forge, we will explore the realm of natural healing as it intersects with Pagan identity and practice. Zoom Ritual: Fetching Back the Light (online with Stephanie)
The Solstice has passed and the days are getting longer, but are we feeling more light in our lives yet? In this meditative ritual we will make an active effort to deliberately bring light back into the world, for ourselves and for the good of all.
If you are able, bring a candle, matches/lighter, and something to write on and with to the ritual.

Descriptions of In-Person Events:

6:45 pm Gather in person at Meridian Playground park

7:00 pm In-Person Ritual: Waning Wolf Moon Ritual (with Jane)
The light of the year returns, the full moon flares, but then dims and the world seems to dip into darkness again. The post-holiday lull, the return to school rush, the new year's resolutions, the pile up of work, and current events... sometimes it feels like it's all too much. In this self-care ritual, we will look for something that we can set aside for a time—not banish or get rid of, but something we can come back to—like the moon fading, resting, then growing back to fullness.

Where to meet in Meridian Playground park:
In addition to our virtual programming this month, we are meeting at Meridian Playground park in Seattle for an in-person ritual.
Meridian Playground - Parks | seattle.gov
4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103
  • Meet at Meridian Playfield, at the Stone Arch inside the park near the entrance, at the corner of N 50th St and Meridian Ave N.
  • The in-person ritual will happen regardless of weather, so please dress for conditions.
  • We ask that those participating in-person wear masks while we are gathered.
